Trajectory
La música tiene el poder de transportarnos a otro lugar o una época. A DÚO LATINOS DE COLOMBIA le encanta aprovechar este poder para hacer su música en todos los ambientes posibles llegando a todas las audiencias.
Desde el año 2009 Rocío Amaya y Jairo Elías Pérez se unieron con su formación clásica y popular (jazz, rock, brasileña, tropical, romántica) aprovechando la escuela neoyorkina del maestro Joe Madrid, para enfocarse en la música latina que recogiera sus múltiples influencias.
Así se plasmó en el primer trabajo de Rocio Amaya titulado “Mi inspiración” (2011), donde exploran ritmos como la balada, el flamenco, el tango, la bossa nova, la soka, el reggae caribeño o la salsa con temas originales. Por su parte Jairo Elías plasmaba su trayectoria en su primer disco en trío jazz donde plasma sus arreglos tan originales. Pasando por Encuentros y Festivales, se enfocaron en el jazz latinoamericano que quedó plasmado en "Rocío Amaya, Al Sur" (2022) y en el trabajo "Caminos Cruzados" (2023), como un homenaje a la música brasilera.
Actualmente siguen produciendo música original pero han extendido su repertorio por diferente épocas para ofrecer al público una experiencia universal, sin distingo de géneros, con su estilo particular que viene marcando una diferencia en la escena del jazz de su país.

Music has the power to transport us to another place and time. The DUO LATINOS OF COLOMBIA loves to take advantage of this power with a varied audience, from music lovers to passionate musicians alike.
Since 2009, Rocío Amaya and Jairo Elías Pérez joined with their classical and popular training (jazz, rock, salsa) within the New York school of maestro Joe Madrid, to focus on Latin music that would pick up multiple influences. This was reflected in a first creation work entitled "My inspiration" (2011), where they explore rhythms such as ballad, flamenco, tango, bossa nova, soka and Caribbean reggae and even salsa with original themes. Then there would be other works with Latin American themes that will take shape in the albums "Rocío Amaya, Al Sur" and "Caminos Cruzados", the latter in homage to Brazilian music. But above all, as a versatile duo, they are known for making universal music available to the public with a current trend that is making a difference in the jazz scene in their country.

Musical experience
TRAINING IN MUSIC
1977- Guitar studies with the teacher Álvaro Bedoya who initiated her in harmony and composition.
1984 - Studies in the Conservatory of the U. Nacional, of cello with the teacher Julio Gutiérrez, and singing with the teacher Gilberto Escobar. He also took private lessons in lyrical singing with maestro Luis Carlos García and with Venezuelan Carlos Godoy.
1989-1990- She joined the Superior School of Music (ICBA), where he studied complementary piano and harmony under the direction of the teacher Florencia Pierret (Dominican Republic), as well as cello with the American professor William Shumatt.
From 1991 he took classes with the Bulgarian teacher Svetoslav Manolov (cello), and joined the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Colombia where he worked as a cellist.
1991- He studied harmony of contemporary popular music. with the teacher Samuel Bedoya, at the New Culture Foundation.
1994- Complementary piano studies with the teacher Gustavo Parra at the GAPA Academy of músic

Jairo Elías is one of the most important promises of the piano in Colombia, who began his studies at the Instituto León Tolstoi (ex-Soviet colombo) and at the New York jazz school of maestro Joe Madrid, continuing them with great masters of Colombian music. He is a very versatile arranger, musical director and excellent pianist and teacher.
